These are planning ranges—not vendor guarantees. Large furniture, stairs, access restrictions and unusually dense items can change the right vehicle or unit.

Room-by-room packing guide

Pack in the order that keeps daily life working.

Most packing stress comes from starting everywhere at once. Use this sequence to keep essentials available until the final day.

  1. 3–4 weeks out

Storage, décor and rarely used items

Seasonal clothing, books, wall art, collections and guest-room items. Label by room and priority.

  2. 2 weeks out

    Secondary spaces

Garage, office files, extra linens and most kitchen equipment. Donate or recycle as you go.

  3. Final week

Main rooms, one zone at a time

Leave one simple meal setup, core toiletries, chargers and two changes of clothes unpacked.

  4. Move day

    The open-first box

Documents, medication, tools, paper towels, trash bags, basic cleaning supplies and bed linens travel with you.

How the estimate works

Useful enough to plan. Honest enough to adjust.

The calculator starts with common box ranges by home size, then adjusts for household size and how densely you live. It divides the total into practical box types and rounds to whole supplies.

It intentionally provides a starting point—not false precision. Before buying, walk each room and add boxes for books, collections, pantry goods and fragile items.

Planning in Australia

Know the local terms before comparing prices.

03

Confirm travel charges, access and the usable internal volume.

Quick answers before you pack

Questions people usually ask next.

Should I buy every box at once?

Usually not. Start with roughly 90% of the estimate when returns are easy, then add specialty boxes after checking wardrobes, books and fragile items room by room.

What items make the estimate increase fastest?

Books, collections, pantry goods, garage tools and fragile kitchenware use more or smaller boxes than ordinary clothing and linens.

Can I use the estimate for a professional mover?

Yes, as a planning list. A moving company may still calculate space or price from an inventory, total volume, weight, access and distance.

Does the tool store my information?

No personal details are requested. Your selected market is remembered only on your device so the local units stay consistent.
